Vidgather privacy policy

How Vidgather and this website handle your data. Publisher and controller: Pablo Alcaraz. Contact: hola@pabloalcaraz.es. Updated 7 October 2026, for Vidgather 0.2.1.

Purpose and data processed

Vidgather saves Vimeo videos you own or are authorised to download. It processes the video identifier and title, player context, temporary playback sources, available resolutions, audio tracks and download progress to detect the video and perform the task you request. It is independent software, without affiliation with Vimeo.

Storage in the browser

Detected videos and their temporary sources are kept in Chrome session storage, without syncing to other devices. Quality, audio selection and download state are kept in the working tab. This version does not keep its own download history or persistent preferences. Records are removed when their source tab closes or navigates, when you clear them, or when the Chrome session ends.

No publisher telemetry

Vidgather requires no account and includes no advertising or analytics. Videos and browsing history are not sent to the publisher’s servers. Processing and joining tracks happen on your device. User data is used only for the requested download functions, in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. It is not sold or used for personalised advertising.

Player access and sessions

When needed, you sign in on the website providing the video. Vidgather obtains sources offered by that player. It does not ask for passwords or read or export your profile’s cookie collection. Chrome may attach session information to requests according to its rules and your settings. The extension does not attempt to bypass DRM, sign-ins, access restrictions or payments. Being able to play a video does not itself grant permission to copy it.

Network connections and permissions

Downloads request manifests and media fragments from Vimeo and supported delivery networks, including vimeocdn.com and akamaized.net. These providers receive normal connection data, including your IP address, under their own policies. Processing on your device does not mean there are no external connections. Storage, scripting, downloads and scoped host permissions are used for supported player detection, media access and saving. They are not used to track unrelated browsing.

Saved and temporary files

Completed files are saved to Downloads or the location you choose. Uninstalling Vidgather does not delete them. Chrome may keep its own download history. Normal downloads use a temporary file in the browser’s private storage, removed after Chrome confirms saving or after cancellation. A forced close may leave a temporary file; it is cleaned before the next download or by Borrar datos temporales when no task is active. Direct saving writes to the selected destination without that temporary copy. Controlled cancellation aborts the write; a forced close can leave an incomplete or empty destination file.

Voluntary support

When you email the support address, Pablo Alcaraz receives the information you include to answer your query and resolve the issue. The extension sends no automatic attachment. The legal basis is the publisher’s legitimate interest in responding to communications you send, under GDPR Article 6(1)(f). Emailing is not required to use the extension. Messages are retained while the query is handled and for necessary follow-up, responsibilities or legal obligations, then deleted or anonymised. Email delivery and hosting services process messages to provide that service, not for advertising.

Your rights

You can request access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and, where applicable, portability by emailing hola@pabloalcaraz.es. You can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or another competent authority. Vidgather cannot access Chrome’s general history or erase files you already saved independently.

Website hosting and connection data

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. Loading a page sends normal connection data to the hosting network: IP address, requested URL, request time and browser information. Netlify processes this data to deliver the website, diagnose failures and prevent abuse. The legal basis for website delivery and security is legitimate interest under GDPR Article 6(1)(f). Technical logs are kept for the period required for those purposes, subject to Netlify’s service settings and applicable obligations. The publisher adds no separate visitor database or log export.

Cookies and language

The website does not set analytics, advertising or preference cookies and includes no accounts, embedded third-party players or contact form. Fonts and images are served by this website. The language selector uses separate URLs and does not save a language preference. Netlify may process technical request information as described above; the absence of cookies does not mean an absence of hosting logs.

Recipients and international transfers

Website connection data is processed by Netlify and its infrastructure subprocessors. Netlify’s network may process data outside the European Economic Area, including the United States. Its Data Processing Agreement describes the applicable transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where required. Email infrastructure providers process support messages to deliver and store correspondence. You can contact the controller for information about recipients and applicable safeguards. Video delivery providers receive the connections described in the network section.

Control and updates

You can clear temporary data in the extension and revoke permissions or uninstall it in Chrome. This policy will be updated when Vidgather’s behaviour changes. Contact the publisher with privacy questions.
